This is the most difficult part to realize, as Trevor also realizes that his relatives including nieces and nephews would probably find it hard to understand.

Because of the last 7 years or so of Spectre's life (which encompasses the early and latter teenage years of Trevor, the aftermath of Spectre's is taken out of context of what kind of father this man was.

Unfortunately, Trevor's younger brother KT was missing much of the good part and as a result, part of the ending of KT's life was enmeshed with more or less heavy drug addiction.

But enough of trying to find causes and blaming...

Trevor remembers how Spectre was always loving towards his sons prior to the 7 years and remembers even though Trevor got "hand me downs" , Spectre delighted in hearing Trevor's piano playing in the morning and was told so by Spectre. Until later life Trevor did not realize how much since he was given a baby grand piano so it wasn't just a mere token instrument.

He was so proud of his oldest son Spectre Jr. but I doubt Jr. thought that much about it because of later acts that seemed embarrassing and outright abusive. (But more about that later).

He was so welcoming to Jr Wife 2 that comical moments were evident and loving.

He and 2nd son KC who was a star high school basketball player along with Trevor and KT seemed to be in the background of the family at times, but Spectre and SW seemed to put a lot of pressure on Jr. "just because" it was their first child I would suspect.

Anyhow, Trevor remembers the time that although he loved airplanes (at at time way before TSA and all the barriers to being in an airport (where to get an assigned seat, paper tags were put in seat slots on a board in the waiting area!) and anyone could enter the lobby without being checked out.

Spectre was apparently planning a trip that would entail flying and figured that Trevor also had a fear of actually being on an airplane.

Spectre was able to convince him that if he would just check out the seats on the plane to see how they were, that all would be o.k. and they could leave. However, as the plane's engines were revving up, Trevor was afraid until step by step , Trevor enjoyed flying! ( which is fortunate because much of Trevor's life after 1980 was flying for business and later on pleasure.

Flashback to the almost yearly family trips to Santa Monica, California to the William Tell Motel with a swimming pool (Trevor could not swim but loved the water in the pool). Spectre was able to help Trevor with his "cold water soaked (from recently being in the pool) suit" to run it under hot water and he could join his brothers!

And then there is the always clever and playful "Magic Lantern". It would bring gifts randomly to the kids. Things such as crates of fruits, watermelons, simple things but surprises that delighted them but being a fantasy type kid, Trey believed in that magic long after his brothers, he suspects.

When Trey was confused about why "our family was different than other Mormon families" Spectre had a sit down talk about comparing Liberty Park with a big hedge around it to Utah and that outside Utah, there is another world!  A great lesson even for a boy that would help Trey/Trevor with being accepting of others (and eventually himself ) in later life.
